Aphasia Community Choir

  • Ages: 18+

    • Open to adults of all abilities - not limited to those with aphasia.

  • When: Wednesdays, 11 AM- 12 PM

  • Description:

    • For individuals living with aphasia after a stroke or brain injury, language can feel out of reach, even when thoughts and emotions are still fully present. Music offers another way in. When speech is limited, the ability to sing is often preserved, opening the door to meaningful communication and connection.

    • Through familiar songs, rhythm, and shared musical experiences, choir members are supported in expressing themselves, building confidence, and reconnecting with their voice. The focus is not on performance or perfection, but on showing up, being seen, and experiencing moments of success together.

  • More Information:

    • Rehearsals incorporate evidence-based techniques to support communication, breath control, and vocal strength, while fostering social connection and emotional well-being. No prior musical experience is needed, and support persons are always welcome.

Every person has a voice—music makes sure it is heard.
